ARE SORCERERS VALABLE IN ELDEN RING?
Velen is a large map that hosts a lot of action in Wild Hunt. It is a larger map than White Orchard which makes it a little harder to locate its Places of Power. Six Places of Power are located in this vast, swampy and forest-covered wasteland. Six Ability Points will be awarded to Geralt for discovering and drawing from each of these places. Here you will find the Witcher3 Places of Power within Velen.
AT ANCIENT OAKS
The Igni Place of Power is located just slightly west of Velen’s Ancient Oak tree. This is the location you will need to visit on the Whispering Hillsock main quest. Take a look around the large oak tree for it. Two other signposts are located near the Place of Power: The Ruined Tower and the Orphans of Crookback Bog.
SOUTH OF FRISCHCLOW TOWN
This Place of Power can be found at the southernmost point on Velen’s map, as shown below. It is located just south of Frischlow’s signpost location. Fyke Isle is further north. You can find the Aard Place of Power by heading directly south through the swamps.

BELOW THE BRIDGE IN LORNRUK
An abandoned Lonruk tower is located at the northwest corner Velen. It’s on a small, island linked by a drawbridge. This signpost is located near Harpy Feeding Ground, and further south at Isolated Shack. To find it, head to the northwest corner of the map below. The Place of Power can be found in an area below the bridge. To spot it, you need to look at both sides of the drawbridge.
IN THE ELVEN ROINS CAVE
This Witcher3 Place of Power can be found in Velen, within an underground Elven ruin cave (entrance marked down below). It is part of Keira Metz’s optional Magic Lamp second quest. Keira will need your help to find the magical lamp after she has completed the Wandering in Dark quest. To find the Place of Power, help Keira locate the magical lamp. It’s important to complete this secondary quest as soon as possible, as it is not available for very long.
The Elven Ruins Cave is the Place of Power
BALD MOUNTAIN
This Place of Power Up Bald Mountain is located near the Road to Bald Mountain signposts and the Destroyed Bastion signposts to the south of Velen. This POP cannot be accessed until you complete the 26 Bald Mountain main quest. This quest is only available after you have completed Blood on the Battlefield towards the end of the game. When you climb the mountain in Bald Mountain, make sure to look closely at the Quen POP mark below.
The Road to Bald Mountain: The Place of Power
ATOP A ROCKY HEIGHT NEAR DOWNWARREN
It is easy to locate this Witcher3 Place of Power at Velen. On the eastern side, look for the Reardon Manor or Downwarren signposts. Continue northwestwards from Downwarren to Dragonslayer’s Grotto. You will find the POP at the top of the hill. It is a steep, rocky hill that you must climb. The POP is located at the top of the hill.
These are the Witcher3 Places of Power within Velen, not including the Novigrad area. They will temporarily increase sign intensity when you draw from them.
