Mediatonic, a darling of the indie scene, announced that Fall Guys, the great battle royale game for all ages on PlayStation 4/Playstation 5 starting June 21, would be available free of charge to everyone – no PS Plus required. You can also download it on Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch and PC. It’s not bad at all!
Calendar lovers will know that June 21 is here. You can now head to the PlayStation Store and get Fall Guys for a reasonable price.
This is the August 2020 PlayStation Plus game. However, this is an opportunity for those who missed it/weren’t subscribed to the service at the time to try out a different type of battle royale. One that has only grown in the past two years with more modes and rounds. Although I haven’t played for a while, you can be certain that this free-to-play era has made me want to re-download the game.
Fall Guys received a respectable 9/10 from me when I reviewed it at launch. I called it an “instantly accessible, brightly coloured indie jewel”.
“It’s always exhilarating and infuriating, but it’s also downright funny,” I said. “As in most battle royales, the thought of winning the final victory and coming out on top is the most intoxicating. The difference in Fall Guys is that success can be achieved by everyone. It is one of the rarest modern games. You can quickly pick it up and understand what you need to do without lengthy explanations or tutorials. While I don’t think your grandmother will be able to handle it as well as she did Wii Sports, I am willing to wager that she would prefer this to a game of Warzone.
