With the successful Launch of both I’m Setsuna and Missing Sphear, Square Enix and Tokyo RPG Factory announced today a Brand New game called Oninaki that will be released for PS4, Switch, and PC this Summer.
Oninaki is a JRPG game that will enable players to explore the world as a mysterious Watcher named Kagachi who is bound by obligation to sever the bonds that connect the Lost to the world. Through the advice of Kagachi, the souls in this Beyond’s world will continue to reincarnate over and over again.

Reincarnation is the foundation of our way of life. We observe the lives we’ve been awarded, and offer prayers for the following up.
It is grief of departure which shackles the living, and causes the dead to stray. Indeed, there is no affront to reincarnation.
As we send off the dead so might our despair turns to joy.
But the souls of people who held their tears back in existence need salvation in death. A responsibility that falls into the Watchers.
Serve as keepers of the Living Earth and the Beyond, and their job will be to guide the wandering souls Called the Lost.
The Watchers sever the bonds that tie the Lost to this world, and send them on to another. They navigate the emotions of the living and the deceased. They prize life above all else.
This is a single Watcher’s story.
