One creative Pokemon fan decided that their Joy-Cons needed a makeover. The creator painted the controllers using their artistic talents. They painted the Joy-Cons with red and white paint to make them look like the Poke Ball in the Pokemon series. The black line divides each controller into two colors: the upper half is red, and the lower half is white.
Reddit user iloveulongtime shared some details about the creation of custom controllers inspired by Pokemon in a post. They also noted that they had scrubbed the Joy-Cons’ outer casings with Scotch-Brite before painting them. This was done to make the primer stick better on the surface. After cleaning the controllers with soap and water, the creator applied primer coats to them. After priming the controllers, the creator applied base coats to them and then used automotive masking tape to “create the Poke Ball effect.” Finally, the artist applied a few coats satin clear coat.

The artists cautioned against airbrushing and said that it could cause damage if the base color is not right or the paint is too thin.
