The Arkham series is a must-see when we discuss good superhero video games. It’s hard to imagine anyone not wanting to drive through Gotham in a gritty, dark setting, and use a ridiculous number of gadgets that absolutely kill at most some people, when Batsy deploys them. Arkham Asylum and City, Origins, and finally Knight all make for great fun. However, it seems there was almost a fifth timeline with a much older Batman.

According to Push Square a different Batman version was in the works for the fifth Arkham games. Goran Bukvic, a concept artist, has been working on their ArtStation since a project was reportedly abandoned. Instantly Bruce Wayne’s face has become visibly older with a greying hair.

These images are stunning. It is a shame that we didn’t get to see this Batman in action. It’s often fascinating to see the aging of superheroes. They are struggling, perhaps they have lost their motivation or the anger that drove them is turning into irreverence. Although it is impossible to determine what this interpretation might have been, the images are just as hardcore and gritty as the original games.

There is also a younger Batman involved in the project. This one is a red symbol, and it looks much more robotic than Bruce’s image. Although it is not known who this person is, it could be a replacement for Bruce or an alternate Bruce, I would wager it to be a successor. Nightwing has worn red versions of himself in the past. Perhaps it is Dick Grayson wearing the suit after being Robin. It’s been cancelled so we won’t know for certain. However Suicide Squad : Kill The Justice League will be back on the horizon. This marks the return to Rocksteady’s DC gaming – how will Batman look then?
