DUNE: SPICE WARS IS A REAL-TIME STRATEGY GAME WITH 4X ELEMENTS FROM NORTHGARD’S DEVELOPER
Dune – Spice Wars was announced at The Game Awards 2021. The next strategy game features 4X elements by Northgard developer Shiro Games. The title was co-published with Funcom. It places players in control of crucial factions from Frank Herbert’s universe and asks them to become the dominant power on Arrakis.
The first Steam Early Access release of Dune: Spice Wars is next year. It will include four playable factions. Two of these were House Atreides and House Harkonnen. Early players will be able to test the “full diplomatic, spying, and warfare systems” and the three victory conditions and other features such as a multiplayer mode and the possibility of new systems in future updates.
“Explore Dune using ornithopters in order to find resources, villages, points of interest, and other useful information. To take over more areas, you can expand your forces. To dominate the economy, you can use the resources of buildings and spice harvesters. Be strong and eliminate your enemies, but remember that outright aggression can have serious political repercussions ,”. This blurb is on the Steam page.
The developer estimates that Dune: Spice Wars would spend between 9-12 months in Early Access. However, the developer also noted that there is no rush, as the company’s goal is to ensure that the game is exactly where it needs to be when the final release occurs. “
Although the trailer for the game isn’t showing any gameplay, the screenshots on the Steam page shed some light on the game’s UI and design.
They also show what appears to be a diplomacy screen and another. This allows you to vote for different political resolutions within the Landsraad.
Dune: Spice Wars joins Funcom’s open-world survival game. It is co-developed with Nuclear.
