WWE recently attempted to sign Jeff Hardy, the former World Heavyweight Champion, to a new contract, after releasing him at the end of 2021. WON’s Dave Meltzer confirmed that WWE agents reached out to Hardy, offering him various offers, including an opportunity to be inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame class.

Hardy declined these offers and requested WWE return drug test results from his previous tests. He believes that he would not be tested for recreational drugs.

It is believed that WWE only tried to stop Jeff from signing with All Elite Wrestling. His brother Matt also wrestles. Jeff may sign a contract with AEW. This would allow for a Hardy Boyz reunion in the Tag division, which would attract a lot of media attention and a lot of money in merchandising and PPV purchases.

After displaying erratic behaviour at a Texas live event, Jeff Hardy was removed by WWE in December. WWE offered Jeff the chance to be part of a paid rehabilitation program, but he declined. Jeff remains under a no-compete agreement until March.
