Codemasters released its video game driving simulator GRID 2 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows on May 28th 2013 in North America and May 31st in Europe, serving as a sequel to Race Driver: GRID published in 2008. Initially released August 8, 2012 with its initial trailer; its second and third gameplay trailer were revealed May 13th 2013; further digital delivery versions including PS3 Reloaded Edition as digital delivery will only become available January 22, 2014. On April 22, 2014 an announcement trailer announced Grid Autosport.
This chapter utilizes version 3.0 of EGO Engine for enhanced visual fidelity and gameplay engagement. Codemasters promises to build on what was achieved in its previous chapter with a completely revised driving and collision handling model: all new forms and special events to highlight its dual nature of simulation and arcade playback will also make an appearance! There is no visible view inside passenger vehicles. As features of this game we find: LiveRoutes that lets players customize each race track from lap-to-lap is one unique aspect and there is also hardcore mode without driving aids and therefore pure simulation for experienced players; in total there are 82 tracks across the globe with day and night versions present for most tracks.
The player assumes the role of driver who competes in races on three continents during his or her career. To gain an edge during each race, time-out may be used by “flashback”, with each collision damaging cars beyond repair resulting in total destruction of them all.
