Call Of Duty publisher sued over school shooting
After a devastating mass shooting that took place around 2022 Call of Duty publisher Activision was deemed to be one of several companies that are currently facing lawsuits for the tragedy.
It was the Uvalde school shooting, which took place in May 2022. an 18-year-old Salvador Ramos opened fire at Robb Elementary School located in Uvalde, Texas which resulted in multiple deaths and wounded.
Two years after the tragic incident, relatives of the victims have said that they are seeking legal action against three businesses they believe have helped “train” the gunman to execute the murder.
Companies that have been involved in the Uvalde shootings are Facebook Meta, the creator of Facebook Meta, Call of Duty publisher Activision, and the gun producer of the gun that was used.
The court case reveals that each of the three firms promotes and promote killing and violence along with Josh Koskoff, the lawyer for the families, declaring the three companies constitute a “three-headed monster” that “knowingly exposed [the gunman] to the weapon, conditioned him to see it as a tool to solve his problems and trained him to use it”.
“There is a direct line between the conduct of these companies and the Uvalde shooting,” He added.
According to the reports, Ramos had been an enthusiastic player of Call of Duty since he was a teenager and was so an avid player that the weapon employed in the incident could also be used within the game.
To this assertion, Activision called the shooting “horrendous and heartbreaking in every way” and expressed its “deepest sympathies for the families and communities who remain impacted by this senseless act of violence”.
It also said: “Millions of people around the world enjoy video games without turning to horrific acts.”
The jury is still debating whether the suit will go on and we’ll send our prayers and thoughts to the families of victims as well as the people that are in the process of being affected.
