World of Warcraft Classic’s Season of Discovery Phase 8 May Be the Final Update
World of Warcraft Classic’s *Season of Discovery* is set to release Phase 8 on April 8, 2025, but recent comments from Blizzard suggest it could be the final phase for this experimental realm. The update includes the Scarlet Enclave raid, New Avalon outdoor activities, and a new legendary weapon questline, marking the first *Season of Discovery* update made entirely of original content.
Blizzard’s blog announcing the release and a follow-up email referred to Phase 8 as the “final chapter of Season of Discovery,” strongly implying that no further updates will follow. This marks a potential end to the *Season of Discovery* experiment, which has already revisited cut content from vanilla *World of Warcraft* like the Emerald Dream and the Karazhan Crypts.
While this could signal the end of the experimental phase, Blizzard has previously hinted at the end of *Season of Discovery* only to surprise players with additional phases. Despite this uncertainty, *Season of Discovery* will continue in some form, with Blizzard confirming that players will still be able to use their characters from the experimental realms after the updates cease.
Whether or not this truly is the last update remains to be seen, but *World of Warcraft* has made it clear that the *Season of Discovery* content will remain accessible, even if no more updates are released in the future.
