Google has teamed up with *Pokémon* to introduce a fun Easter egg mini-game featuring the original 151 Pokémon from the series. This interactive game is available through Google’s mobile app or mobile browsers, offering fans a nostalgic way to engage with the beloved franchise.

To play, simply search for the name of a Pokémon from the original Kanto Pokédex. After the search results appear, a small Pokéball icon will appear in the bottom right corner. Tapping the icon will trigger a short animation of a Pokéball being thrown at the Pokémon, effectively “catching” it. Players are encouraged to continue searching for all 151 Pokémon in the Kanto region to complete the collection.

However, there are a few caveats. Players need to be logged into their Google account to keep track of their progress. Without signing in, Pokémon caught won’t be saved, and prior catches will be lost. Additionally, players cannot immediately catch rare Pokémon like Mewtwo or the Legendary birds. Instead, they must capture the first five Pokémon before gaining access to Master Balls, which are required for these special captures.

While there’s no clear reason for the timing of this partnership, it’s a fun, low-key way for Google and Pokémon to celebrate the franchise, even though Pokémon Day has already passed for the year.
