Silent Hill f Playable on Steam Deck, But With Caveats
*Silent Hill f*, the latest entry in the *Silent Hill* franchise, will be playable on the Steam Deck, but players should be aware of a few limitations.
Set in 1960s Japan, *Silent Hill f* promises eerie visuals and an unsettling atmosphere, though many details about the story remain mysterious. The game has now revealed its PC system requirements and compatibility with Valve’s Steam Deck.
While the game is officially playable on the Steam Deck, it’s not considered “verified” for the device. This means that while all core functionality works with the default controller layout and the game uses Steam Deck icons, players will face some challenges. The text in *Silent Hill f* may be hard to read on the small screen, and manual adjustments to the graphics settings will be required to ensure smooth performance.
Regarding performance, it’s unlikely that players will experience the best visuals or frame rates on the Steam Deck. With the game’s minimum system requirements needing an Nvidia GTX 1070 for 720p at 30 fps, the Steam Deck may not deliver a high-quality experience, especially when connected to external monitors.
While *Silent Hill f*’s Steam Deck compatibility isn’t perfect, it’s already an improvement compared to *Silent Hill 2*, which is still marked as unsupported on the device. With no release date yet, there’s hope that Konami and NeoBards Entertainment will optimize the game further for the Steam Deck.
