Oblivion Remastered Changes Sneaking Mechanics, Surprising Fans
A **major change** to the **Sneaking system** in *The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered* has been discovered by players, altering how stealth works compared to the original game. The remastered version launched on **April 22** for **PS5**, **Xbox Series X/S**, and **PC**, and has already become the **third best-selling game of 2025**.
Reddit user **voruvi** found that reaching **level 50 in Sneaking** no longer negates the noise caused by the weight of boots. In the original, this perk allowed players to sneak quietly even in heavy armor. In the remastered version, the perk only makes movement “more quiet,” and heavy boots still alert enemies more than going barefoot or wearing light armor.
Further testing revealed that neither reaching **level 100 in Heavy Armor** nor using **Feather enchantments** changes this behavior. As it stands, **going barefoot** remains the best method for stealthy movement.
Fans are still enjoying the updated RPG despite some gameplay changes, and many hope Bethesda will clarify or adjust this new stealth mechanic in future updates.
