CampaignBlack Ops III’s campaign is designed for 4-player cooperative gameplay. This allows for larger, more open levels and less corridor shooting. The player can also customize the appearance and clothing of their character. Each campaign has its own progression system. Players will unlock tokens that can be used to purchase different weapons and gears throughout the campaign. A “realistic” difficulty mode is available in the game. Players will be defeated if they are struck by just one bullet. Completing all campaign missions will unlock Nightmares mode. This allows players to replay the entire campaign with new narratives and zombies replacing most of their normal enemies.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer introduces a new momentum-based movement system that uses thruster packs to allow players slow boosts in the air and wall running and sliding. All while giving them complete gun control. Treyarch also introduced a new character system, “Specialists.” This allows players to choose from 9 soldiers with a unique weapon or ability. Blackjack, a tenth specialist, was added to the game in a later update. Blackjack can mimic the abilities of other experts and can only be played for a limited time after completing a set. The “Gunsmith” feature allows for aesthetic modifications to weapon attachments. This allows for various weapon customization combinations. Paintshop allows players to customize specific parts of guns with their own prints. This further emphasizes the customization possibilities of the game.
