Animal Crossing: New Horizons to Support Island Transfer from Switch to Switch 2
Nintendo has confirmed that players of *Animal Crossing: New Horizons* will be able to transfer their island data from the original Switch to the upcoming Switch 2 using a simple system transfer process. However, players should be aware that this transfer will remove the island data from the original Switch once completed.
The system transfer does not require additional apps or cloud saves, making the process straightforward. However, the original Switch must remain close to the Switch 2 during the transfer. Players looking to upgrade to the Switch 2 will need sufficient storage space on their new device, but the built-in 256GB should suffice for most users.
While the *Animal Crossing: New Horizons* Island Transfer app allows for easy transfers between original Switch consoles, it is currently unclear if this app will be compatible with the Switch 2. Additionally, players can use cloud saves with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for transferring islands between older Switch models, though this method may require additional assistance from Nintendo.
