Gen 4’s Chingling Returns to Pokémon TCG After 15-Year Hiatus
After more than 15 years, **Chingling**, the baby Pokémon from Generation 4, is finally making a return to the **Pokémon Trading Card Game**. The new card will be part of the upcoming **”The Glory of Team Rocket”** expansion in Japan, and is expected to be included in the Western **Destined Rivals** set, launching in May.
This marks only the **fourth Chingling card** ever printed. The last time Chingling appeared in the TCG was back in **2009**, with its previous cards featured in *Mysterious Treasures* (2007), *Majestic Dawn* (2008), and *Supreme Victors* (2009).
In the new release, Chingling will have **30 HP** and a unique ability that causes a player to discard a random face-down card from their hand, according to early translations. While it’s unlikely to be a competitive powerhouse, its appearance alone has sparked excitement among collectors.
Fans are especially intrigued by Chingling’s inclusion in a **Team Rocket-themed set**, possibly referencing James’ fondness for Chingling’s evolution, **Chimecho**, in the anime.
Although Chingling has been largely overlooked in both the games and the TCG, its surprise comeback highlights the Pokémon Company’s growing focus on fan-favorite and nostalgic Pokémon. With the high demand for Pokémon TCG cards, fans looking to add this rare baby Pokémon to their collection may want to act fast.
