Moon Studios Faces Uncertainty After Mixed Reception to No Rest for the Wicked

Moon Studios, the acclaimed developer behind *Ori and the Blind Forest*, is reportedly at risk following the mixed reception of its latest title, *No Rest for the Wicked*. The action RPG, currently in Steam Early Access, has received criticism for its high difficulty, unclear mechanics, and grind-heavy progression.

Studio founder Thomas Mahler warned on the game’s Discord server that if negative reviews continue, it could threaten both the full release of the game and the future of Moon Studios itself. Although Mahler later clarified that the studio is not in immediate financial danger, he stated that review bombing could seriously harm their progress after the team took major risks to buy back publishing rights from Take-Two Interactive.

Mahler also suggested that some reviews may be politically motivated, and emphasized that player feedback is being monitored closely without the need for negative ratings. Following his comments, the game’s Steam rating improved to “Mostly Positive,” with a surge of recent reviews boosting overall numbers.

Last month, *No Rest for the Wicked* received its biggest update yet, *The Breach*, which expanded the game world and introduced over 11,000 changes. Despite the rocky start, Moon Studios appears committed to improving the game and restoring player confidence.
