Pokémon Fossil Museum Set to Open in the U.S. in May 2026

The Pokémon Fossil Museum is officially coming to the United States, with its first stop at Chicago’s Field Museum in May 2026. Originally launched in Japan in 2021, the exhibit combines Pokémon with real-world paleontology, offering fans a fun and educational experience.

The museum will feature life-sized skeletal replicas of various Fossil Pokémon, such as Tyrantrum and Archeops, placed alongside actual dinosaur fossils like the T-Rex and Archaeopteryx. Visitors will be able to explore the similarities between Pokémon and prehistoric creatures through interactive displays.

The U.S. debut will open on May 22, 2026, giving fans a full year to plan their visit. Based on its tour in Japan, the exhibit is expected to stay open for 1–4 months in each location.

Fans have responded positively to the news, with many already making plans to attend. The exhibit will also include lesser-known Pokémon like Yanmega and Mamoswine, expanding its appeal to longtime fans.

This announcement comes as The Pokémon Company continues its global outreach, bringing unique experiences beyond Japan.
