Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 includes settings on PC on what to max out it may get confusing for a lot of people. Gamers will adequate enough hardware will max what out hoping the game will look the best that way, but that often leads to drops in FPS.
Tweaking can be looked into by one of the settings players are shadow feel sizes, which do not look bad if you turn them down a little, but have a huge impact on performance. I got an increase of around 10-15FPS tweaking the shadow textures, with the match not appearing any worse so I would advise it.
To take advantage of this FPS boost you Want to edit
To take advantage of this FPS boost you need to edit your config.ini file which can be found at the following
C:\Program Files (x86)\Call of Duty Black Ops 4\players\config.ini
Here we need to scroll down to find the following two settings:
spot_shadow_texture_size
omni_shadow_texture_size
You can use CTRL+F to search for them if you’re unable to fine them.
Now set them both to 128, close and save your config file and restart the game. You’ll notice a good FPS boost.
Do note that the game will reduce your render resolution if you’re already getting FPS in the range of 45-60FPS or below 60FPS on each restart. So keep in mind if you’re wondering why the rendering resolution got reduced all of a sudden.
