A amount of all reports On Star Wars leak sites detailed the title and demanding time period of the Republic – set several hundred years prior to the Skywalker Saga – which Lucasfilm has been quietly working on behind the scenes because at least 2018.
The High Republic features an art deco-style vibe.

Free From the confines of this well-charted Skywalker age, this new story setting was set to be explored by means of a variety of comics novels, movies and kick off with a game.

But today’s Official announcement leaves out a reference to any video game project – and is attentive to say that the High Republic”won’t overlap any of those filmed attributes or series presently planned for production”.

As Previously leaked, and supported by the official announcement, the High Republic is a sort of Golden Age for the Jedi, when peace reigned throughout the globe (though troubled still brewed along its frontiers).

A team of Star Wars writers have been operating Together to create a web of overlapping personalities and storylines with this age over several decades. Fan sites had suggested this push as like a Marvel-isation of Star Wars – with characters eventually coming together across mediums such as story events.

A proposal was once this era are the Setting to the now-canned trilogy of movies set to be helmed by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss – that have parted ways with Disney and ended up at rival Netflix.

Instead, Lucasfilm’s big announcement today covers the”first wave” of High Republic stories, set along a young adult book (Star Wars: The High Republic: Into the Dark by Claudia Gray), a middle grade novel (Star Wars: The High Republic: A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland), an IDW comic book series (Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures), a Marvel comic book series (Star Wars: The High Republic by Cavan Scott) and an adult book (Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule).

Changes to the way the High Republic will launch are unsurprising Contemplating the juggling behind the scenes at Disney to try and find directors and the stories for its five Star Wars movies.

And, over the weekend, Kotaku Reported on a third cancelled Star Wars game at EA, ditched ago. Two Star Wars games remain in development at EA: a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (certainly not High Republic-based) and a”bigger, more peculiar project” in the Jade Raymond-headed EA Motive.

Would the High Republic nevertheless be used as a video game setting down the road? The door isn’t shutting.

“This Is an incredible sandbox for our storytellers Publishing and outside,” Lucasfilm exec James Waugh concluded. “And we Can’t wait to find the fantastic fiction they construct inside.”
