A tale of revenge. In 1986, teenaged jujitsu artist Ryo Hazuki yielded Into the dojo of his father, Iwao Hazuki, to watch his murder with a Chinese guy, Lan Di. Lan Di steals a mysterious artifact called the Dragon Mirror. Ryo promises to avenge his dad’s death and sets out tracing Lan Di’s path. In the very first game in this series, Shenmue starts the narrative since Ryo travels around Yokosuka, Japan, collecting clues about his father’s murder and coping with nefarious gangsters on the way. The sequel Shenmue II continues Ryo’s quest, now crossing the sea into Hong Kong, China. Ryo ventures deeper into the criminal underworld, fulfilling martial arts masters that assist him on his trip, giving insight into his dad’s passing and unraveling the mysteries of this Dragon Mirror his dad kept concealed.
