Apple claimed it had “courage to remove the iPhone 7’s headphone jack, but I didn’t know that this meant I would need to carry two sets of headphones if I wanted audio output on both my iPhone 7 and other devices. Although there was an option to connect my wired headphones like before, those are small and easy to misplace.

I decided to get a Bluetooth headset and will never be without it. HOWEVER, when I bought a Switch, I was unaware that it didn’t support Bluetooth audio out and that the Apple headphones that I used to listen to music or watch videos with weren’t available in my pocket. This realization occurred as I was in college and trying to play Battle Chef Brigade before class began. Nintendo has updated the Switch to allow users to pair Bluetooth headsets with it like any other portable device in the 21st Century. It was launched four years ago.

If you have the latest firmware update, you can create a tab for the new feature in your Switch’s system settings. The setup is straightforward. It’s as easy as it sounds. Put your audio device into pairing mode. As I type this, I am testing it, and it seems to work well. I was worried about the Bluetooth pairing’s audio delay. It made it hard to play rhythm games such as Persona 5, Dancing in Starlight or to watch cutscenes and videos that were audio dependent.

It’s better to be late than never, I think. I’m happy to take two headphones with me when I travel or simply not at home…
