Escape from Tarkov, a multiplayer role-playing game that uses first-person shooting and is currently being developed by Battlestate Games. The game was released to select users as an alpha on August 4, 2016. A closed beta version of the game has been available since July 2017.

Escape from Tarkov developers refer to it as a hardcore, realistic first-person shooter role playing video game that borrows elements from large-scale multiplayer online games. In its current state Escape from Tarkov offers three modes of play: an online PMC raid, Scav (shorthand for “scavenger”) raids and an offline mode. These raids allow players to play in either a solo or group setting and can spawn on any of the available maps. Players are granted an extraction point on the opposite side of the map. Players who die in raids lose all their loot and equipment. If they are not taken by another player, players can insure the equipment and weapons that they brought with them. In scavenger hunts, players get a random set, rather than items from their own stash. They can also enter a raid that’s already underway in a random place. A cooldown timer is applied to the mode until it becomes available again. A raid can last between 15 to 45 minutes, depending on where it is located. It may also contain up to 14 players.
