Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Ubisoft Montreal and released as part of their Assassin’s Creed franchise, becoming its twelfth major installment and twenty-second release; succeeding 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey as well.
Set between 872-878 AD, this game chronicles an imagined tale during the Viking invasion of Britain. Eivor serves as player control; she becomes embroiled in conflict between Assasin Brotherhood and Templar Order factions. This game was officially released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One (including Series X & Series S ) & Stadia platforms on November 10, with PlayStation 5 version arriving two days later on November 12. Critics overwhelmingly praised the game, including its story, characters, voice acting, visuals, soundtrack, world design and interconnectivity of activities.
Critics criticized its inconsistent gameplay mechanics, progression-systems, technical issues and lack of innovation within its core gameplay; nevertheless it received two nominations at The Game Awards 2020: for Innovation in Accessibility and Best Action/Adventure game respectively.
