Xbox users who believe a shutdown may soon come are no longer bothering to download free games from Microsoft as the shutdown approachs.
Like me, you probably find it impossible to stay current on all the games available through any gaming subscription services. New releases come out each year plus there is always some kind of giveaway or sale going on that add more games for us to try out – making keeping up impossible at best!
Sony recently unveiled an extraordinary PlayStation Plus free games lineup in July – Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Alan Wake Remastered and Endling – Extinction is Forever are all up for grabs at no additional cost starting tomorrow (July 4). These amazing titles span more than 100 hours of game play time each, giving gamers plenty of entertainment value at no additional cost!
Xbox users have expressed extreme displeasure with Games with Gold – the monthly free game service offered as an added benefit of subscribing to Xbox Live Gold subscription plans. Even without Game Pass Ultimate subscription, most gamers would likely need this subscription service regardless of free game offerings; fans, however, believe Games with Gold offers have declined greatly over time.
Reddit user androidtic_mammal recently made it clear: Games with Gold has become unviable over the past year or two, with its selection of C tier games only providing enough fun for an hour or two of enjoyment at most. PlayStation’s offering of Alan Wake Remastered, for instance, far surpasses Microsoft’s offerings; I don’t understand their lack of backward compatibility for backward compatible titles anymore either! What gives Microsoft?
Others believe this could mark the beginning of GWG’s demise: Away-Trainer101 notes “I don’t care much anymore for GWG; instead I am grateful to have received every [Xbox 360 game for free over time. And even without subscription I can play these whenever I wish! Unfortunately though I think GWG will likely close within one or two years,” while androidtic_mammal suggests: “Yeah I agree; seems they are cutting funding. However it really disappoints those of us that miss playing GWG original/360 games; even if they repeated some classic titles it would still beat what we currently have now!”
