Fans believe Splinter Cell: Blacklist deserves its sequel and believe a sequel would bring many exciting changes and improvements.
Fans agree that Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell series has been dormant too long and needs an encore with Splinter Cell: Blacklist 2.
Ubisoft recently unveiled an official photorealistic remake of Splinter Cell for PC, and while I applaud them for finally giving this classic series its due, more needs to be done in its sequels and beyond.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist marked our last original Sam Fisher adventure since 2013. Since then, however, most other titles in the beloved franchise have either come and gone or simply feature him occasionally as part of other Ubisoft series like Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six Siege.
Fans want that to change and they have made their views known via Reddit.
Blizardmate recently posted on an internet thread the statement, “This game is LONG overdue for a sequel”, alongside cover art of Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
Though Splinter Cell: Blacklist may not have been everyone’s top pick from the series (many still preferring Chao Theory as their favorite entry), it was still an outstanding title that demonstrated what modern Splinter Cell could look like. Fans agreed it is long overdue for revival via either direct sequels or rebooted remakes like Blacklist: Remake of their beloved franchise.
“Honestly I prefer a soft reboot. Something Blacklist should have been, yet wasn’t. Still fun to play!”
“Only if it follows in the vein of chaos theory or double agent. If it follows suit with previous games, I would prefer not to have another sequel.”
“Only if my night vision makes an audible noise when turned on”
Truly, an exceptional Splinter Cell comeback would include its original stealth gameplay with modern visuals and Michael Ironside reprising his role as Sam Fisher – it would truly mark an outstanding comeback from Ubisoft! However, whether more sequels will follow after this remake’s launch remains to be seen…
