Fallout 5 is officially confirmed by Bethesda it will launch alongside Starfield in the near future.
Bethesda Game Studio boss Todd Howard confirmed that Fallout 5 would be their next RPG following The Elder Scrolls VI, yet we may have to wait a considerable amount of time until its arrival on shelves.
Howard had confirmed previously that Bethesda would focus their development efforts on The Elder Scrolls VI once Starfield launched, which it has indeed done now. Development on The Elder Scrolls VI has officially started. Although it might seem premature at this stage, as Starfield only just came out, we should likely allow Bethesda time to rest before expecting the sequels; nonetheless it’s great news for fans of Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic series that there will eventually be one!
Unfortunately, The Elder Scrolls VI will probably arrive no sooner than 2028 and Fallout 5 won’t likely appear before 2030 or so – an inconceivably distant date when one can barely think ten years ahead!
Howard confirmed Elder Scrolls VI production is underway and plans for Fallout 5 development were in the pipeline, adding: “Yes, Elder Scrolls VI is in pre-production as we prepare to develop that as well. Beyond those projects we also consider other opportunities from time to time.”
Howard revealed to IGN that Bethesda already has an idea for Fallout 5, adding: “Fallout’s really part of our DNA here – sometimes working with other developers from time to time and I can’t say exactly what will come of that collaboration; however, we do have an internal one-pager detailing everything we intend on tackling with Fallout 5!”
Bethesda may have exciting plans in store for us for the upcoming Fallout game; only time will tell. I hope Bethesda takes note of Fallout London for inspiration – that fan effort looks absolutely phenomenal!
