Bayek from Assassin’s Creed Origins has won fans’ praise as one of the series’ top protagonists, closely trailed by Ezio.

Now I recognize this may be hard for some of you to accept; Ezio Auditore has become the face of the Assassin’s Creed franchise with several “peak” games under his belt and remains widely beloved, often considered one of the greatest video game characters ever; with no one coming close until now.

Luck_Shot on Reddit recently asked whether Origins and Odyssey were as tedious and repetitive as Valhalla in terms of gameplay experience. Collectively known as the RPG trilogy, most consider Valhalla to be the worst game while Odyssey can sometimes feel too lengthy while Origins stands as one of their finest works in recent memory.

Responses to my post confirmed my claim; however, this triggered another thread claiming Bayek from Assassin’s Creed Origins is the best protagonist from all four Assassin’s Creed games.

Abyss_Renzo opened discussion by noting, “One feature distinguishing this game from Odyssey and Valhalla is Bayek as its established protagonist; his interest throughout is evident.”

Other people echoed these thoughts and found Bayek more appealing due to his personality and story arc than Ezio, in terms of both character development and story telling.

One reviewer commented, stating, ‘Bayek was an awesome assassin protagonist… Perhaps even better than Ezio himself.”

Someone else offered an additional perspective by going further: “He’s better than Ezio; Altair was always my favourite and, while I like Ezio too, other fans found him more captivating.

Someone finally noted how disappointing it was that Bayek never got another game after her story ended, noting how “it would probably come down between Ezio and Bayek as far as being best protagonist, with Bayek just about taking the edge”. Additionally someone pointed out their disappointment that we never received more Bayek stories: saying this “… It seems utterly criminal that we never got another sequel for Bayek’s journey… It would make great reading!”

Let’s be clear; Edward Kenway is my hero and no one should try and convince me otherwise.
