About Half-Life

Half-Life (stylized by the name HlLF-LIFE) is the first-person shooter game created by Valve and released in 1998 by Sierra Studios for Microsoft Windows in 1998. Half-Life utilized scripted scenes like the scene of a Vortigaunt driving down a door too to move the story points.

As opposed to other first-person shooters at the time that relied on cuts-scene intermissions for describing their plots, Half-Life’s story is mostly told by way of scripted scenes (bar one cutscene) that keep players in charge from the perspective of a first-person. As a result, players never lose the power to direct Gordon which is a character who does not speak and never appears within the game. Instead, the player can see “through his eyes” for all of the game.

Half-Life does not have “levels”; it instead breaks the game down into chapters, and the titles appear on the screen while players progress through the game. The gameplay is uninterrupted, with only small pauses during loading.
