Batman Arkham Origins takes place on Christmas Eve and is an antecedent to Arkham Asylum. Combat is essentially identical to the previous two games but with some additional aspects, including electrical gloves which double as an effective device to power your smartphone similar to microwaves.
It’s disorienting compared to the initial two Arkham games. Even though Rocksteady did a wonderful dedication to The Dark Knights in comics and cartoons, Arkham Origins feels very similar to the films, incorporating several elements from that Dark Knight trilogy and clashing themes.
