EA Canceled Titanfall Extraction Shooter from Respawn Entertainment

A new report has revealed that one of EA’s recently canceled projects was a Titanfall-themed extraction shooter being developed by Respawn Entertainment. The project, codenamed “R7,” was in early development before being scrapped.

The cancellation follows a major round of layoffs at EA, which affected around 300–400 employees, including 100 staffers from Respawn. EA described the cuts as “targeted team adjustments,” impacting teams working on *Apex Legends* and *Star Wars Jedi*.

New Report Reveals

According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the Titanfall shooter was still in the incubation phase and never officially announced. Though few details are known, it was expected to enter the competitive extraction shooter space alongside games like Bungie’s upcoming *Marathon*.

Respawn confirmed it will continue supporting affected staff and exploring other opportunities within EA. Despite the cancellation, Respawn remains focused on three main projects: ongoing content for *Apex Legends*, the sequel to *Star Wars Jedi: Survivor*, and co-development of *Star Wars: Zero Company*, a turn-based strategy game set during the Clone Wars.
