The Death of Space
Dead Space is a survival horror science fiction video game for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was developed by EA Redwood Shores (later known as Visceral Games). The game was released in October 2008.
Isaac Clarke is a ship systems engineer. He must battle his way through an alien-infested mining starship. Their crew was killed and their bodies reanimated into “Necromorphs”. There are many types of Necromorphs that appear in the game. Each one has different abilities and requires different strategies to defeat them. The game is played in a third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective.
Dead Space doesn’t use traditional heads-up displays. Instead, all information is relayed via holographic projections from Isaac’s Resource Integration Gear(RIG) spacesuit as well as the weapons themselves. To show Isaac how much ammunition he has, a small holographic screen is mounted to his weapons. Also, Isaac’s health meter and other suit spines are integrated into his suit spine. You can view the 3D map and current objectives via floating holograms. Or, you can access the inventory screen to manage guns or items. The game continues in real-time, so there is no danger of the player being attacked while they browse through the menus or the map.
