Apex Legends offers cosmetics called Badges which players can use to show off achievements such as winning a certain number or purchasing a certain amount. Respawn also uses it to promote certain causes and communities such as Pride flags or Black Lives Matter support. These items were only available during specific windows. If you didn’t play during that time, they wouldn’t be available to you. This was until Apex legends November 2, update, when they will be available to all players.

This announcement was made by the studio via its social media. It confirmed that the Pride, Black Lives Matter, and Stop Asian Hate badges, as well as Suicide Prevention Month, will be available permanently next Tuesday. They will however be temporarily unavailable to prepare for the update, which means they won’t be available for much longer than a week.

I had only experienced Apex Legends cultural osmosis so I was familiar with these badges. It’s a great thing that the team made this change. As someone who has been looking at Apex for some time, it would be nice if I could wear the Pride badge while playing as a pansexual icon, Fuse. Many causes such as Stop Asian Hate and Black Lives Matter are ongoing and should not be restricted to one time per year. This seems to be a minor correction since these are issues fans will want to see on their profiles all year.
