FFXIV’s Heavensturn Event Returns with a Year of The Tiger Celebration
It’s the time of year in Final Fantasy XIV. The usual seasonal celebrations end and start anew, with back-to-back launches and new games as we celebrate the holidays. Although the Starlight Celebration is still a week away, we welcome Heavensturn back. You’ll be celebrating the Year of the Tiger this year, beginning on January 5, right after Patch 6. The event will end on January 19.
2022’s Heavensturn will add to your collection of glamour inspired by the Chinese Zodiac. Players will be rewarded with a Silver-lacquered and Gold-lacquered Tiger Helmet. Square Enix also offers The White Tiger furnishing as a decorator housing option. This is another handy divider-style piece that Square Enix offers, but they are only available during the two-week seasonal event.
To get new Heavensturn rewards, you must be at least level 15. Then, head to the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X.11.5, Y.13.9) to talk to Tora Bug. You’ll be assigned to the quest Twigle with a Tora. We usually get an achievement for finishing it. Since 2016, the questlines for Heavensturn have been quite straightforward and require us to complete low-level Fates in return for the rewards. It would help if you didn’t wait around as they often spawn, so don’t delay.
Final Fantasy XIV welcomes the new year with Heavensturn every year. However, you might notice that the celebration for 2022 is a little later than usual. Although it’s not a significant delay, we see the party begin on December 31. However, Endwalker’s delay has caused some delays in the content pipeline. We see events delayed ever so slightly. Eorzeans learned a bit more about Far East customs through celebrations around the Year of the Ox. Even these small events made me feel a lot more grateful to the FFXIV team for providing us with something while adapting to changes in the workplace due to the pandemic.

This year’s celebration was a great success. I am so happy that we got to do something for Tiger. These are my favorite glams. Although the divider has Byakko on, I wouldn’t say I like that fight or its lengthy wind-dodging sequence. I’m not sure if I would be willing to let him into my home. It’s too cool for me to let it go. I think Byakko will win this time.
