Dead Cells is my favourite video game. The celebrated 2017 roguelike-Metroidvania hybrid is a slick, stylish mishmash of genres with a deliciously dark sense of humour and a deadly, constantly shifting world filled with secrets.

Evil Empire and Developers Motion Twin could have easily left Dead Cells alone in Early Access 2018. They would still have an all-time great game. The team spent five years slowly expanding and changing the game using a mixture of paid and free DLC packs. The game has seen many improvements and enhancements over the years, including bosses, bosses and crossovers, and new challenges and weapons.

The Queen & The Sea is the third major Dead Cells DLC offering, following The Bad Seed and Fatal Falls. It’ll come as no surprise that it’s also one of the most popular and successful DLC offerings.

This new expansion is a hugely hefty offering full of brand-new dead cells content. It is indeed a Very Good Thing. This late-game content will both delight and punish even the most dedicated players. It includes new story content, frightening bosses to confront and new biomes.

One of the most notable features is the new lighthouse area. The new mechanic adds an interesting twist to the progression in dead cells as if the experience weren’t stressful enough.

Players will need to climb the lighthouse and avoid the rising flames in this new nautical biome. Does that sound too simple? It’s not. You’ll have to deal with the Queen’s Guardian, a new enemy that will be relentless in your quest to get to the exit. The Queen & The Sea delight in pulling the rug from under players who believe they have mastered Dead Cells. It is brutal and will delight fans.

You can also find a variety of new items and weapons, such as a pirate hook hand that can be used to launch devastating melee attacks. However, this is not enough to stop the Great White shark from devouring any enemy it comes across. These new items do not break the game, which is quite impressive. However, you will want to try out every new item, even if it’s to see how ridiculous some of them are. My friends, a weaponized fish is just the tip of the iceberg.

You get one of the most robust, robust and unapologetically challenging expansions that have ever been released. The Queen and The Sea will keep you on your toes. As with all things in Dead cells, persistence is a must.

Dead Cells was an already amazing video game that I would not hesitate to recommend to others. It has been deemed an essential package, with the Queen and Seajoining both paid expansions. Dead Cells, a game that is maddeningly difficult, challenging, and full of content, is absurdly good. It refuses to stop improving. Veterans, you are in for a treat. For newcomers, be prepared for something truly unique.
