GTA 5 modders have added the OceanGate Titanic submersible into their mods of GTA 5.
Last Friday, OceanGate tourist submersible that takes paying customers on tours to Titanic wreck site 12,500ft below surface went missing.
In 1912, RMS Titanic made headlines when she mysteriously disappeared after colliding with an iceberg and sinking to the bottom of North Atlantic Ocean, taking with it approximately 1,500 passengers on board.
Tragically, the Titanic submarine was found after it had apparently experienced a catastrophic failure and collapsed under its own weight, killing five lives on board including OceanGate Co-Founder Stockton Rush as well as British Billionaire Hamish Harding; British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood’s son Suleman as well as French marine expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet – including Paul-Henri Nargeolet himself who survived to report back.
Tragedies have always grabbed media attention and this tragedy is no different, drawing intrigue even into video gaming world. One such video game influenced by it is indie horror game Iron Lung that takes place aboard an ancient submarine; prior to discovering OceanGate sub, sales skyrocketed of Iron Lung; developer David Szymanski described this sales growth spike as “so wrong!”
GameRant reported that, although Iron Lung sales saw an inadvertent upswing due to no direct attempt at capitalisation on tragedy, that hasn’t stopped some GTA V modders from creating OceanGate Titanic submarine content for GTA V mods.
This ingenious mod allows players to explore the ocean using an OceanGate submarine. According to reports, this submarine features fully functional lights as well as an operational frontal hatch for entering or exiting. Unfortunately, only one player at a time may enter this modified GTA V submarine vehicle.
