GTA San Andreas Remaster Is What the Definitive Edition Should’ve Looked Like

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition may just be one of the most disappointing collections of remastered games ever released. GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas were each incredible experiences – hearing that modern consoles would get shiny remaster versions was initially very exciting – however when announced it proved disappointingly disappointing.

As soon as the collection was made public, however, that excitement quickly dissipated. Unfortunately, The Definitive Edition was riddled with bugs and glitches upon launch – in addition to which many fans felt that its purportedly remastered graphics looked poor in comparison with The Sims titles – many even commented on how character models appeared similar to The Sims titles!

Notably, Rockstar Games’ Definitive Edition may not provide the ideal experience when it comes to any of three Grand Theft Auto titles; so what would happen if these three GTA games had been completely redone from scratch? YouTube content creator 12th Hour decided to take matters into his own hands by recreating Grove Street from GTA San Andreas from scratch in a fan-made remake which looks much better than Rockstar’s official attempt.

12th Hour’s YouTube channel recently hosted an impressive video which demonstrated his process for crafting an HD model of CJ, along with meticulously building out her legendary street, each house, car, lamppost and blade of grass meticulously placed – down to every last crack in the road outside! His attention to detail with regards to texture is absolutely staggering: chipping paint off CJ’s house walls as well as cracks in his road outside look very realistic indeed!

Unfortunately, this project or mod does not yet allow players to participate; rather, it serves as an eye-opening reminder of what could have been had Rockstar invested more time and resources into modernizing San Andreas for modern consoles. Please take notes!
