As one iconic game’s tagline states: ‘Oh no… Here we go again…’ That is right; another case of review-bombing has surfaced as some individuals do not seem to understand when or if to stop review bombing.

Review-bombing has long been an issue, most prominently this year when Horizon Forbidden West’s PS5 exclusive DLC Burning Shores was hit with homophobic reviews after it introduced female love interests for protagonist Aloy. Also affected was HBO’s The Last of Us with episodes focused on Bill, Frank and Ellie/Riley stories being targeted; now Final Fantasy XVI seems to have fallen victim of review bombs for no discernible reason whatsoever.

Once on Metacritic’s user reviews for the game, you’ll discover an assortment of zero and one scored reviews ranging from zero scores to positive ones. Unfortunately, those delivering one-star reviews seem split on why they do it: some may dislike its gameplay direction while others blame critics for overselling its release.

“Not Final Fantasy. Not even remotely JRPG; more like an adventure game” read one review; another noted its many weaknesses: absolute shallow RPG elements and boring side quests which hinder game pacing were noted among them; it failed to meet all expectations as an original Final Fantasy title!

One player noted: “Too many cutscenes and interruptions; too much FPS drops; quality drops; performance issues. Additionally there are no RPG elements present within what should be a JRPG game – I just want to play my game!”

At the time of this writing, there were 657 negative reviews for every 2,526 positive ones on Amazon and PS Store combined – making Final Fantasy XVI an easy and accessible way for customers to try the game for free before purchasing it themselves. There’s even an affordable demo available so players can experience this masterpiece for themselves before spending any cash!
