Oh The Elder Scrolls VI! When will it finally be out? With its release likely occurring before we have even received our next consoles!

Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI five years ago on 11 June 2018. Since then, we’ve seen no gameplay nor an expected release date; Microsoft recently acquired Bethesda parent ZeniMax Media for $7.5 billion so perhaps anything may still happen with regards to The Elder Scrolls VI release date or gameplay!

As Bethesda has officially become an Xbox first-party studio, it may be safe to assume that The Elder Scrolls VI will remain exclusive to PC and Xbox, possibly skipping Sony’s latest PlayStation console altogether. But don’t count out Microsoft attempting its $68.7 billion takeover of Activision Blizzard just yet; most market regulators across the world approved of Microsoft’s acquisition deal; however UK CMA opposed this acquisition due to potential concerns that Microsoft would exert too strong of control on cloud gaming monopoly by controlling too tightly over cloud gaming monopoly!

But it’s not only UK market regulators causing trouble; according to reports by IGN, the FTC of the US is also seeking an injunction and temporary restraining order against this deal. Xbox Chief Phil Spencer represented Microsoft against FTC litigation regarding console exclusivity issues when discussing The Elder Scrolls VI which could take up to 5-10 years until being released – at which time we might already be on to new console generations! Yikes!

Spencer stated in response to whether The Elder Scrolls VI would be multiformat, that given how far out its release is “it can be challenging for us right now to pinpoint exactly which platforms that game will launch on”.

“Elder Scrolls VI is so far off that it’s difficult to predict its platforms at this stage,” states Spencer. “However, the same team working on Starfield — which comes out this September — may finish it by then; therefore we could potentially be looking at five or more years until its release date.”

Recent news regarding Change.org petition from PlayStation gamers asking that The Elder Scrolls VI not remain an Xbox exclusive has seen almost two thousand signatures sign it since only last week when only 50 were collected! I for one hope as many gamers as possible get to enjoy playing The next Elder Scrolls game!

Bethesda will release its sci-fi RPG Starfield for PC and Xbox Series X|S on 6 September 2023; unfortunately it appears Bethesda won’t offer physical copies for sale.
