Payday 3 dev reveals fantasy Batman collab: where The Dark Knight can prevent bank robbing
Almir Listo, global brand director for Payday 3 franchise would love nothing more than seeing The Dark Knight join its famous roster.
Recently we took our hands-on Payday 3 and had the chance to chat with Listo about its development as well as his hopes and vision for it in future installments of this crime heist multiplayer shooter series. When asked by us what their dream media/entertainment collaboration might be he responded that Die Hard’s charismatic loose cannon cop John McClane would make for the ideal collaboration while Batman himself would also fit nicely!
“One is Die Hard: John McClane becomes a Cloaker; players respond like, ‘That must be John McClane; shoot that glass!'”. For those unfamiliar with Payday series games, Cloakers are enemies designed specifically to derail any player attempts at heists or bank heists.
Listo described Batman as having “jumped through the ceiling”, complete with sounds of windows breaking and his menacing music; then added that both collaborations may even appear in Payday 3 some day!
Payday 3 “raises the stakes in every possible way; leaving banks with bags filled with Benjamins while intense music shakes your eardrums never gets old (at least within its virtual borders…)”.
Almir Listo revealed in the interview that Payday 3’s developers reached out to real bank robbers so as to create as authentic an experience as possible for players.
Overkill Software and Starbreeze Studios’ Payday 3 will be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 21 September 2023 and support cross-play between all available platforms – plus it will launch day one with Xbox Game Pass!
