Starfield’s length has officially been confirmed, and it proves surprisingly short.

Starfield, one of the biggest games released this year, will reportedly offer an intriguing but short main storyline.

Bethesda’s next major release, Starfield, which will hit Xbox and PC this September is creating excitement across players of all ages and demographics alike. Players are eagerly awaiting its debut; some even plan on taking off work when it drops! Others are even purchasing brand new Xboxs just so they can experience it first-hand!

Players will discover an enormous galaxy with over 1,000 worlds to discover in Star Citizen, offering players ample space for exploration as they construct and pilot their own spaceship, recruit new companions–such as “adoring fans” from The Elder Scrolls Oblivion–and explore sprawling cities such as New Atlantis.

Due to Starfield’s immense scope, players have long wondered when or if the game can be conquered; Bethesda executive Todd Howard recently provided them an answer.

Howard recently spoke about the game’s length in an interview with IGN and stated that its main story currently takes 30-40 hours to finish, comparable to other open world Bethesda titles like Skyrim or Fallout 4. However, prior to release this number may change; according to Howard “This one may end up longer [than our other titles], so we might adjust that still”.

Though surprising short, 30-40 hours for the main story should still provide enough gameplay time, especially considering most of your time will probably be dedicated to side quests and exploring planets across the galaxy. Furthermore, there’s also a comprehensive base and ship building system which may consume your time during gameplay.

Xbox has come under intense criticism lately over their Starfield exclusive contract, as this has been used as evidence by the FTC against them for trying to force out competitors by purchasing more developers and publishers. Meanwhile, PlayStation fans signed an online petition asking Microsoft for Starfield as an exclusive on PS5, though unfortunately it failed miserably.
