Halo: Combat Evolved’s cut content is being brought back into Halo MCC thanks to an agreement between 343 Industries and modders.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has breathed new life into Halo games from years past with six titles available – Halo 1 to 4, Reach and 3: ODST titles included! Currently.

343 Industries has been consistently updating the game, not only correcting bugs and glitches but also adding content such as bonus collectibles and weapon/vehicle skins from older titles to the original titles. 343 also works closely with Digsite Modding team which has been unearthing unreleased assets with hopes that some can be included into full games such as TOR.

Design/production documents, Bungie feedback notes, tags, compiled maps and source data from previously unseen multiplayer maps were found, along with brand-new textures that had never before been utilized in production. Of particular note is a full original demo from 1999 Halo: Combat Evolved Macworld that had long since been thought lost – featuring an early build that originally planned as an RTS exclusive for Mac before transitioning into third person shooting mode, before eventually being transformed into its modern FPS form.

Digsite noted, “MCC required some work in order to run smoothly; therefore we decided to create it as a sandbox so you can experiment and explore freely before creating mods using MCC.” Players will have an opportunity to freely roam this demo version while discovering vehicles and enemy types not featured in its final form.

MCC players on PC should expect this content, since Xbox does not currently permit mods; though 343 Industries could permit mods in future if modders provide enough content. Other highly requested features include crossplay multiplayer and 4-player co-op for Halo CE/Halo 2 as well as various new control settings for controller/mouse and keyboard players.

Although no exact release date for the next major update has been set yet, we anticipate its arrival either late this year or early next year and bringing with it numerous features tailored specifically towards Xbox and PC platforms.
