Are You Prepared For Starfield’s Release? Tension has steadily been building leading up to Bethesda’s massive space-exploration RPG’s debut this October and excitement surrounding Starfield has reached fever pitch.

Unbeknown to many gamers is Starfield’s release on 6 September; however those willing to pay extra can gain early access from 1 September with either of two pricey editions: Constellation Edition (for approximately PS250/$300) and Premium Edition (approximately PS100/$100). Existing Standard Edition preorderers may upgrade for PS34.99/$34.99 to get access.

Starfield superfans likely already preordered an edition that allows them to start the action as soon as physically possible, yet an easily doable trick may help bring forward that release date even more; at least slightly.

Let me introduce the timezone trick. Simply, by changing your system settings on Xbox or PC and declaring yourself living in New Zealand, you can effectively time travel several hours into the future – depending on where your current timezone lies; its effects might be more pronounced in certain places than others – although, for those already residing there it won’t make much difference at all!

My fellow UK citizens should note that New Zealand is 11 hours ahead, meaning you should theoretically be able to dive into Starfield on 31 August at 1PM UK time (1 September midnight in New Zealand).

Since Bethesda has previously noted that actual play time depends on your purchase date and may vary based on outages and time zone differences, we can assume the New Zealand timezone trick may work here, although its efficacy will probably become clearer nearer the date of release.
