By December’s end, 2023 will have been an amazing year of gaming – it would still be phenomenal if it ended today!

Imagine this, by December we should have witnessed the release of Starfield, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Final Fantasy XVI Octopath Traveler II Pikmin 4… etc on all major consoles… even some somewhat disappointing releases can only hope to compare to 2007 for gaming releases?

2007 truly marked an incredible year in game releases: Bioshock, Crysis, The Witcher, Mass Effect Portal and Assassin’s Creed all came out, marking six iconic series that established themselves over time; Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy Phantom Hourglass Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare were among some of my favourite new releases as well.

Reddit user Wilhelm_c4t declared 2004 and 2007 the golden ages of gaming. Witnessing its evolution was part of its allure; being part of such an enormous social movement had many memories associated with it that continue today.” However, as more gamers explore gaming each year it loses some of its magic over time as time progresses,” cheesemangee stated.

Of course, looking back 15 years later and thinking back on 2007 with nostalgia as our guide can make us misty-eyed; yet none can deny its immense significance as an exciting year for newly established IPs (initial public offerings). No one could possibly know what was coming our way back then!
