Baldur’s Gate 3 surpasses Zelda to become 2023’s highest rated game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has made history this year by overthrowing Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as the highest rated title.
Since Baldur’s Gate 3 launched on PC earlier this week, its popularity has skyrocketed, becoming one of the fastest selling RPG titles ever and giving rise to significant competition between games in this genre such as Hogwarts Legacy.
Fans have applauded its Dungeons & Dragons-esque gameplay as well as its immense size; players will typically take approximately 200 hours to finish one playthrough of this title.
While PC players have had plenty of fun so far, console gamers must wait in anticipation until their ports arrive before joining in the fun themselves.
Surprise! In an unexpected turn of events, Baldur’s Gate has unexpectedly become a timed PlayStation exclusive due to Xbox Series S limitations causing delays with porting. Xbox fans could soon gain access to two first Baldur’s Gate games which may appear soon on Xbox Game Pass subscription services.
On this topic specifically, however, Baldur’s Gate 3 has now earned itself the top rating on Metacritic for 2018, previously held by Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Recently, The Legend of Zelda game made waves by storming to the top of charts with praise for its story, open world environment and innovative game mechanics.
While Baldur’s Gate 3 may have overtaken its Nintendo counterpart, Tears of the Kingdom currently leads with a score of 96 while Baldur’s Gate 3 just squeaked ahead with an eventual total score of 97.
Although both games deserve this honor, Baldur’s Gate 3 currently takes home the crown.
As more AAA titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Starfield approach release dates, one thing is for certain – Game Of The Year Awards will certainly prove exciting this year!
Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available on PC/Steam and PlayStation versions should become available by September 6th of this year.
