PlayStation New Console Device Pricing Confirmed, Plus More Hardware Announced
Sony has finally revealed their latest handheld console, officially known as PlayStation Portal Remote Player. Sony teased the device earlier in the year but only confirmed its name and price now.
Since it’s been some time since Sony entered the portable market, I imagine that there will be a level of excitement surrounding PlayStation portal. PlayStation Portal, unlike the PSP however, isn’t a stand-alone device. You can stream PS5 games, but you won’t be able to play them on-the-go. It’s possible to move around the house, and that is progress. has received a lot of criticism for being a Switch-screen flanked with two DualSense controller halves, but it isn’t something I completely oppose. Sony confirmed the pricing of their new console on its blog today, along with announcing two other pieces of hardware.
PlayStation Portal is confirmed to cost $199.99/PS199.99/29,980 YEN/219.99 EURO. This makes it significantly cheaper than the PS5 Console. As I mentioned, it is a pricey addition because you need to have a PS5 console in order to play it. Portal has an 8-inch screen that can display 1080p with 60fps. Pre-order information will be shared soon. The device should launch in the second half of this year.
Sony has also released the PULSE Explore and PULSE elite wireless headphones. PULSE Explore, Sony’s first wireless earbuds with AI noise cancellation and dual microphones is described as “our wireless headset offering lossless audio with a retractable mic.” PULSE is also Sony’s new “wireless headset” that comes with “lossless audio with a retractable micro and AI noise cancellation capable of filtering out background noise.”
The first PlayStation audio device to feature custom-designed planar magnet drivers. PULSE Explore costs $199.99/PS199.99/29,980YEN/219.99EUR. The PULSE Explore is priced at $149.99/PS129.99/18980YEN/149.99EUR. Details on pre-orders will be released soon.
