Capcom confirmed today that further Resident Evil remakes are in development following the successful release with Resident Evil 4 Remake. The series has a number of games that are series that are still waiting to get the remake treatment Capcom is now set to capitalize on the excitement of the series.

The news was revealed at the Japanese PlayStation conference, via IGN, Capcom revealed plans to release additional Resident Evil remake titles in the near future.

Resident Evil 4 remake’s director Yasuhiro Anpo informed the attendees that the company would reveal the new Resi remake when the game is available.

In response to a question about whether Capcom would be looking at making another remake of the Resident Evil franchise, Anpo quickly replied: “Yes.”

“We’ve released three remakes so far and they have all been received very well,” Anpo declared. “Since it allows a modern audience to play these games, it is something I am happy to do as someone that loves these older games, and we want to continue doing more.”

Anpo did not reveal the details of what the next installment in the series would be. But, a lot of fans have expressed their they would like to see several Resi remakes and one has been confirmed as of the moment at the time of writing.

In the wake the Resident Evil 4 Remake as well as its Separate Ways DLC it was revealed that Capcom intends to revive the controversial sequel. After the game was criticised for images of racism in 2009, this title could require more focus to remake than the previous titles within the series.

As well as a remake for Resi 5, fans have been asking for an update of the iconic spin-off Resident Evil: Code Veronica. The game was first released back in 2000. it was a Dreamcast Game features Chris as well as Claire Redfield in a prison in the aftermath from Resi 2 and 3.

In light of Code Veronica being one of the less well-known titles of the franchise It would be great for the game to receive the complete remake. Although it might not have had the same acclaim than other games from the franchise at its time of its launch, it’s still an integral part of the narrative.

Anpo revealed that the next remakes to the series be created using the studio’s incredibly powerful RE Engine, saying the technology “has greatly benefited the speed of development.”

Resident Evil 4 Remake is accessible now for Xbox Series, PS4, PS5, PC, and even iPhone. There’s also an VR game that will be available for PSVR 2. PSVR 2.
