Cyberpunk 2077 has come a long way since its initial release. From being broken and unplayable at launch to one of the top titles available today – yet its developers want more from its sequel!

Fans have been astounded at how amazing Cyberpunk 2077 has become since its release, many agreeing it would have won Game of the Year had it come out in 2023. Fans love Cyberpunk 2077 not just due to its lavish additions such as “Judy Butt”, but due to all the effort spent reviving its potential and saving its legacy from an uncertain fate.

Phantom Liberty marked CD Projekt Red’s return, with their DLC offering almost an entirely separate experience. Although we’ve enjoyed considerable control over how our characters fare, they believe there can be greater improvements made for its sequel.

Philipp Weber, narrative director for CD Projekt Red, expressed a wish that our Lifepaths become “more meaningful”.

“Lifepaths provide promise of playing more diverse characters; I would hope we could improve upon that feature going forward,” Weber explained.

Lifepaths may not be the only change Lifepaths will bring; its developers have also alluded to potential third-person perspective changes similar to The Witcher series as potential options – though, at this stage, these possibilities remain only theoretical at best.

As developers are now focused on producing The Witcher 3, production for any Cyberpunk sequel is unlikely to begin before 2024 at least; we don’t yet know exactly when or if a release date may be set either.

But our hopes for the sequel remain high.
