WILL DEAD THINGS BE MORE RANDOM?

After the Netflix series Stranger Things ended, Dead by Daylight was gone, and the final sales for DLC were closed, there was one remaining question. Is it possible to get it back? If so, when will it return? We don’t know for sure when it will happen, but there are some clues. This lingering question might be answered by looking at information from other games and the timings for similar content removal.

TABLE OF CONTENTS1) A HUGE SUCCESS2) GOODBYE FOREVER?3) SEASON FOUR’S POTENTIAL IMPACT

A huge success

The show is a huge success. It’s not just the first season. Season 3 broke Netflix records, with 40.7 million households viewing the new season within just four days. Its popularity has seen it appear on our video game screens as DLC for survival horror and also as a crossover. Telltale Games was developing an entire series based on the show at one time. However, this was canceled when Telltale closed its doors.

Then, how did Netflix leave survival horror? Short answer: Behaviour Interactive lost its license. They could not sell DLC or cosmetics. However, players who have previously purchased the content would still access the characters and outfits. It is a shame that it was removed so quickly, especially when you consider that DLC owners can’t get new cosmetics for Nancy Wheeler or Steve Harrington, as well as The Demogorgon.

GOODBYE FOREVER!

Let’s now get to the real question. Is it possible to see it return? Behaviour Interactive made clear in the F.A.Q. that they are discontinuing this chapter. Behaviour Interactive has permanently sealed off Hawkins Lab. The sale’s title indicates that this was our last chance at the characters. The developers didn’t rule out the possibility that the characters might be returned in this F.A.Q. It’s hard to say, as they haven’t stopped a chapter before.

This chapter was also removed from the official website’s “chapters” section. This is somewhat alarming. It’s not even displayed with a tile that is “discontinued” (or “limited”). It almost seems as though it never existed in the game. Behaviour Interactive may not be giving any clues about the future of its Stranger Things crossover with Dead by Daylight, but there is one game that does.

As stated previously, SMITE had a limited-time event with Netflix. The skins were based on Eleven and Hopper, and they were available for all the Gods and Goddesses. The skins in this game do not have a limited label. In SMITE terms, this means that skins won’t come back. They have an exclusive label instead. The exclusive label means that the skins will be back and available for purchase in the future.
Similar to their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles event, its limited-time skins returned to the battlegrounds of the Gods later on. SMITE can bring back this content, so what’s to stop Dead by Daylight from doing the same? Strangely, the Stranger Things 3video game also was removed from Xbox Game Pass on August 31st. SMITE was removed from Xbox Game Pass on September 21st. Two months later, Dead By Daylight had its content removed on November 17.

SEASON FOUR’S IMPACT

Netflix seems to have pulled the plug on accessing a lot of the video games for their most popular T.V. show at the same time. It almost seems like they will wait until the right time to restore this content when the interest in the series is sure to peak again.

The fourth season of Stranger Things will be released in summer 2022. This would be an excellent opportunity to welcome back Hawkins and their cosmetics. There is no reason to believe that the license can’t be renewed at a later time. This chapter would be an awful shame, considering its popularity.

It’s best to assume, for now, that the chapter won’t be returning anytime soon. Although I wouldn’t want to make anyone anxious, with any luck, we will be able to enjoy the DLC again at some point in the future. You should check them out if you haven’t yet watched Stranger Things. It’s possible to find your next favorite T.V. show or videogame, with the latter available on all major platforms.
