A Gamer Discovers a Blatantly Fake PlayStation 5 Online
Although the PlayStation 5 is out now for almost a year, it’s still difficult to find one. The ongoing pandemic, supply issues, scalpers, as well as an ongoing pandemic all contributed to Sony’snew generation console remaining as scarce as a chicken without teeth.
However, the market hates a vacuum and some opportunistic people have tried to capitalize on the pre-Christmas confusion among parents by creating a console which would look exactly like the PlayStation 5 Little Bart has been asking Santa for.
A console called the “GS5” has been spotted on Reddit by TheVideoGaymer. It is not an official Sony product and has nothing to do the PlayStation 5. The price is only $40, which seems reasonable.
It appears that the GS5 console is very real. To be clear, I don’t mean to give it authenticity by calling it “real.” It is a scam product and I use the word “real” to mean that it is.
YouTube has a few unboxings from gamers curious enough to find out what the GS5 can accomplish. It turns out that it is not much. It is smaller than the PS5 and therefore cannot compete in the power department.
However, it does come preloaded with classic games. Demon’s Souls and Ratchet&Clank: Rift Apart are unnecessary when you can play Super Mario Bros. and Pac-Man. It seems like a very sweet deal. It is definitely illegal to sell ROMS, so the GS5 will have pissed off both Sony Nintendo. It’s a remarkable two-for-one deal.
